The Hungry I is predominantly the work of one army Jon Stolber. The dark hued electronic post-rock of The Hungry I first achieved serious critical acclaim in early 2005
with the self release of the expansive & eclectic debut, "The Car" ep which received widespread critical appraisal for its moody kinetic slice of "DJ Shadow on Xanex" dub-hop.
Having built up a solid live reputation with shows in 2006 alongside the likes of "The Guillemots" & "65 Days of Static"- Stolber followed up with the release of the limited edition
"Birthday" single. Released through ATF Records - a bleak 5 minute post rock-opera, the single received unanimous support from the British press, as Drowned in Sound comparing
the "I" to the works of "Radiohead" and "Boards of Canada".
UK and International Radioplay soon helped reach a broader audience and at the end of 2006 for the second year running the BBC weekender nominated The Hungry I for
solo artist of the year.
The New Year has opened up with the release of live favourite "Beginning is the end" as a free download. Featuring Rupert Boddington (Black Ramps), Sebastian Domin
& Eric Health (El Heath) a new harder edged material has seen Stolber capture the sound of recent live shows and move away from his previous laptop production to the more
luscious layered textures of the studio.
With favourable comparisons to "Explosions in the sky" & 'Mogwai', Stolber is currently completing work on the eclectic follow up ep "King is dead" due for self release later this year as
well as completing work on the soundtrack to the independent Scottish movie short "Night School"
